Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Fictional Character Names

img_0924

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish that now has a new home at That Artsy Reader Girl.

This was an interesting topic to explore because it gave me a chance to think about my favorite characters, their names and why I like them. I have yet to figure out if I like a name because of the character or because of the way it sounds or if it’s just a feeling. But I still managed to compile the below list (in no particular order) of some of the very captivating fictional names that I have encountered till now.

Aelin Ashryver Galathynius

I think this name perfectly fits her character. It is powerful, badass and aptly suited for my favorite fire breathing bitch queen.

Reviews: Throne of Glass / Crown of Midnight / Heir of Fire / Queen of Shadows

Hermione Granger

I definitely like this name because it belongs to my favorite female fictional character ever and I really wish she was my best friend.

I love this name so much that if I didn’t have a lot of family and cultural obligations, I would name my future daughter Alina.

Reviews: Shadow and Bone / Siege and Storm / Ruin and Rising

Alaric Saltzman

Many of the characters in this show have amazing names but this one has always intrigued me. Alaric just sounds so unique.

Jaxon Tyrus Rafferty

I just seem to love these long names. Rafe may be the farmer Lia loves but the King of Dalbreck definitely deserves this awesome name.

ReviewsKiss of Deception / Heart of Betrayal / Beauty of Darkness

Shara Komayd

This might be a case of loving the name because of the strong willed, intelligent and compassionate woman that is Shara.

Reviews: City of Stairs / City of Blades / City of Miracles

Legolas

Might be the smallest name on this list but it just fits my favorite Elf and the fastest archer I’ve ever seen on screen…. and also Orlando Bloom 💖💖💖

Misha Samarin

Whether it’s the name of an angsty brooding Russian hockey player/coach or a certain Bollywood actor’s daughter, I just think Misha is such a cute sounding name.

Shahrzad al Khayzuran

This name sounds as powerful as the character who bears it and needs no further explanation.

Reviews: The Wrath and the Dawn / The Rose and the Dagger

Alexander Gideon Lightwood

Alexander is a name already powerful in it’s own right but in the context of Shadowhunters, I just ❤❤❤ the way Magnus calls him by his full name even when everyone else just refers to him as Alec.

What are some of your favorite character names? I would love to know about them!!!

  1. I loved most of the LOTR character names to be frank.. but my favourite names are Gandalf and Gollum! Also love Hermoine! I wish she was my best friend too!😊 I also recently found a name Ysabeau that I found quite intriguing- from the All souls trilogy book #1 😊 I’m sure there are many more but these come to the top of my mind.. oh and Heidi!!
