One thing I have always been consistent about is never making a TBR because I would never stick to it. I’m such a mood reader that it’s always difficult to plan ahead what I want to read. But when I saw the announcement of Marvel-A-Thon for the month of June by Jamieson @ Jamishelves, I fell in love with the idea. I’m a huge fan of the MCU and this readathon just called to me. I love all the prompts and I think they fit perfectly to some of the books that I really want to read. Do checkout the above linked post on Jamieson’s blog for the rules and let’s get started with my TBR.
Iron Man: Read the first book in a series.
There are probably a lot of series that I have yet to read but I have a sudden interest in graphic novels. So, I’m planning to start Monstress Volume One. Cloaked in Shadow and An Ember in the Ashes are few other series starters I’m interested in.
Hulk: Read a book with a green cover.
I have quite a few options for books which have the color Green on their cover like Down and Across, The Beauty that Remains etc but I think I would like to read The Summer of Jordi Perez.
Iron Man 2: Read a book that’s unpopular.
This might be the one prompt in this phase that I want to skip because I’m not sure if I really want to read an unpopular book.
Thor: Read a book that involved myth or mythology.
My first thought for this prompt was Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman 😉😉😉 but I think I really want to read The Song of Achilles.
Captain America: Read a book set or written in World War Two.
I was so happy when I received an ARC for The Prisoner in the Castle, so that’s going to be perfect for this prompt.
The Avengers: Read a book with multiple perspectives.
I can’t wait to read The Nowhere Girls. It just sounds so relevant and introspective. Another option is You Know Me Well.
Iron Man 3: Read a book that will challenge you.
Horror is a genre that I actively avoid in any media, so I think The Beast is an Animal would definitely be challenging to read. But, only if I decide not to skip this prompt.
Dark World: Read a book that involves siblings.
Finally, I think it’s time I pick up Children of Blood and Bone again. I put it down just after a couple of chapters some time ago, so this might be the only way I would be motivated to read it. I might instead read From Twinkle, With Love because that’s one of my most anticipated reads of this summer.
Winter Soldier: Read a book where the main character is a villain or anti-hero.
I have wanted to read Nevernight for a long time but I think I would go for Vicious this time.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Read a book set in, written in, or involving the 80’s.
A book that has recently come up on my radar – Tell the Wolves I’m Home – just happens to be set in the 80s. The only two other books I know about are The Miseducation of Cameron Post and Eleanor & Park.
Age of Ultron: Read a book involving an AI in some way.
I never pick up Sci-Fi of my own volition, but I think it’s finally time to read Illuminae.
Ant-Man: Read a book involving a heist or thieves.
I really have no books with a heist plot on my mind, so this might be another prompt that I will have to skip.
Civil War: Read a book about a rivalry or enemies.
It’s been too long that Captive Prince has waited on my TBR, and now it’s time to catch up. I think Sky in the Deep might be another option.
Doctor Strange: Read a book that involves medicine in some way.
I can’t think of any books except Needing Him because this book has both MC’s who are doctors.
GOTG: Volume 2: Read a book set in or involving space.
I might decide to go for Gemina if I finish the first book during Phase 2 but my first choice is definitely going to be Saga Volume 1. Need to know what all the hype is about.
Spider-Man: Read a YA book involving secrets in some way.
I’ve heard so many good things about The Bravest Thing. Let’s read about how a closeted boy’s secret affects his life. Another option might be Autoboyography.
Thor: Ragnarok: Read a popular book.
It’s been so long that I’ve had Stalking Jack the Ripper on my shelf, it’s time I start reading it. I also have other options like continuing the Illuminae Files trilogy or starting The City of Brass.
Infinity War: Read a book that fulfils multiple challenges.
I think it’s time I read Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and find out why everyone loves it so much. It’s also perfect for the popular book with a green cover challenge.
Black Panther: Read an ownvoices book with a black main character.
I love Dhonielle Clayton since the first time I heard her speak at NOVATeen and I can’t wait to read her book, The Belles. Tiffany Sly Lives Here Now is another book that I’m quite excited about.
Captain Marvel: Read a book with a female MC.
I have a personalized copy of Moxie and I can still remember the wonderful conversation I had with Jennifer, so this is obviously my first choice. I also wouldn’t mind reading Radio Silence or Circe.
The Avengers 4: Read a book you don’t know anything about.
This is quite a tough topic because I never add a book to my TBR without finding some details about it. So, I think I will read The Last Equation of Issac Severy because it came in a subscription box and I’ve never thought about reading it until now. Other books that I have received in a similar surprise fashion are The Midnight Front or The Wolves of Winter.
So, that’s my planned TBR. Obviously it might change based on my mood, but I will definitely try to read atleast some of these books. I’ll also keep you all updated about my progress throughout the month of June. Wish me Luck!!!!
