Hello lovely bloggers….. This is probably one of those rare update/wrap-up posts that I never do, but I wanted to share with you all how my month of reading is going. It has been awesome participating in the Marvel based Readathon hosted by Jamie @ Jamishelves and I’m so happy to inform you all that I have successfully completed Phase I and this has made me feel so accomplished. This is probably the first time I’m trying to stick to a TBR and I think it’s going well. Now, let’s see what all books I have read.
Iron Man
Read the first book in a series
This is only the second graphic novel series I have ever read and I’m still getting used to enjoying them. That being said, Monstress was an enjoyable read with absolutely stunning artwork and great detailing. I fell in love with the black and gold color being used extensively. It was also great to see a disabled female MC who is totally badass on an epic journey to find the truth about herself. In this quest, she is supported by the cutie pie fox Kippa and a cunning talking cat. There are also a whole host of creatures who are trying to kill them. The plot is a little complicated and confusing at times but it ends on a shocker and I can’t wait to read the next one.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Hulk
Read a book with a green cover
This was the perfect summer romance I could have asked for featuring a fat lesbian protagonist and her latina (implied) love interest. There are also a great group of friends and lots of body positivity in this book. Click here for my detailed review.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Iron Man 2
Read a book that’s unpopular
I had initially planned to skip the challenge but decided to read this anthology because I happen to like the love triangle trope and this featured some cool authors. This book starts off with a couple of wonderful stories, but the middle portion felt mostly uninteresting. However, the last two short stories are beautiful and made me weep and I couldn’t have asked for a better ending. My detailed review.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Thor
Read a book that involved myth or mythology
I had plans to read The Song of Achilles for this challenge, but have decided to skip it for now. I might decide to come back to this one, if I’m in the mood.
Captain America
Read a book set or written in World War Two
I read the ARC of this book because I have loved the Maggie Hope series and consider her one of the smartest and most resourceful protagonists I have encountered till now. But this book was a pretty boring mystery with lots of unnecessary descriptions and conversations, a whole of new characters I couldn’t connect to and a waste of Maggie’s talents. The ending was also quite anticlimactic and I was left disappointed.
Rating: ⭐⭐
The Avengers
Read a book with multiple perspectives
I couldn’t have chosen a better book for this challenge because the group of girls here really felt like the Avengers, fighting for their cause and standing up to the patriarchy. This is a must read book for everyone and I hope you all would love reading it too. Checkout my spoilery review post here.

I have Monstress on my TBR! I’ve heard great things about it, so I’m glad you enjoyed it despite it being a bit confusing. 🙂 Great post!

I’m new to the whole graphic novel thing, so I think I get confused easily… but the artwork is too beautiful 😍😍

Congrats on finishing Phase I already! I loved reading Monstress. I’ve finished both volumes currently out and I think it might already be my favourite graphic novel series. The artwork is just breathtaking and I love how dark and complex the story is. Good luck with Phase II!!

I finished both volumes of Monstress too… I think I’m still new to the whole graphic novel genre, so I get confused a lot but I agree, the artwork is just brilliant and stunning… and I totally looooove Kippa… 😊😊
