TTT: Series I’d Like to Start Someday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish that now has a new home at That Artsy Reader Girl.

I have to start by saying I had to change the topic for today to something I was interested in. The original topic is Series I Don’t Plan to Finish and I’m not usually one to abandon series in between unless it’s very very bad.

Since I started blogging last year, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know about many popular authors and their books, but obviously I’ve not had enough time to read all of them. So, let me tell you this list of very popular series that I really would love to read.

Arc of a Scythe Series

I’ve known about Scythe for quite some time, but my interest definitely piqued after the release of Thunderhead. I just got Scythe from the library, so I hope I’ll read it in the next couple of weeks.

The Daevabad Trilogy

I’m a huge fan of Egyptian mythology, so this book is right up my alley. I’m very excited to read it but I don’t have any idea when I will get to it.

The Ember Quartet

A Reaper at the Gates just released and everyone in the community is so emotional about it. I’ve also heard great things about it’s full cast audio, so I’m definitely going to start with the audio book of An Ember in the Ashes sometime soon.

The Illuminae Files

I’m not a reader of Sci-fi at all, so even I’m surprised that this is on my list. But I’m very intrigued by the format and the audio book has a full cast with lots of music and effects and it feels like a fun foray into the genre.

The Iskari Series

What can I say.. I just LOOOOOOVE Dragons. And these covers are gorgeous. I definitely want to read the first book before the release of The Caged Queen.

The Nevernight Chronicles

Female assassins are my weakness. I love reading about badass women getting trained  how to kill and I can’t wait to get started with this trilogy.

Stalking Jack the Ripper Series

I do like reading historical fiction but usually end up with very intense wartime stories. So, I think this series would be a welcome change and I feel I will enjoy this one.

Strange the Dreamer Series

Everyone across the community seems to be in love with Laini Taylor’s writing and there was so much excitement for Muse of Nightmares ARCs at BookCon, so I really want to know what all the hype is about.

The Villains Series

I was supposed to read Vicious as part of one of my challenges for Marvel-A-Thon but I ended up skipping it. But I’m still very intrigued by the premise and anti-heroes are my new favorite trope, so I’m definitely going to read this very soon.

The Winner’s Trilogy

I actually own this trilogy and I’m not even sure why I decided to buy all the books without atleast reading one. Just for that reason, I think I will give this a chance even though it doesn’t feel very interesting anymore.

Have you guys read any of these books? What did you think about them? And which book series do you think I should start first? I’d love to know all of your thoughts.

  1. Hahahaha how is it that we have the same list? I’ve decided not to read the Winner’s trilogy (I heard it’s not that great), but literally the rest of the books on your list is stuff I have to get to PRONTO. 😂

    1. Haha that sounds cool… And they are all so popular that I’m surprised you haven’t read them either… V should definitely discuss our thoughts when we get to them…
Winners’s trilogy is definitely feeling very uninteresting now, so I’m definitely on the fence about it…

  2. I’m not a big fan of sci-fi either, but the Illuminae Files series is amazing! Well, I’ve listened to the audiobook of Illuminae which was fantastic. Also, Stalking Jack the Ripper is definitely a different kind of historical fiction, but it’s very good. I hope you pick up one of these series soon! 🙂

  3. Some great series here. I’ve have many of them on my series TBR too. The Illuminae series is actually quite a fast read because of the format. There are not that many pages of dense text. I listened to the first book in the Ember series and loved it! I will probably listen to them before the last book comes out next year. I would wait on the Scythe series until the next book comes out. Thunderhead had a killer of an ending.

  4. OMG!!! The series on your list are all tempting… some of them are already on my TBR like Scythe and Ember in the Ashes, but the others, I’m adding now.. Those covers are just gorgeous.
And hope you like Stalking Jack the Ripper Series. It’s one of my faves.

        1. I’ve had so many people love his character… I can’t wait to get to know him myself…. And even Audrey rose sounds like such an amazing woman for that time period 😊😊😊

  5. I have yet to begin most of these. I just started reading Vicious and the Stalking Jack the Ripper series (both live up to the hype). I also own The Last Namsara. It was really different in a good way, but I want to read the sequel to get a better taste of the author’s style.

I own Strange the Dreamer, Nevernight, Illuminae, and still haven’t started them! I have so many backlist series to complete. Good luck!
