AND I’m done!!!! Woohoo 😀😀😀😀 When I started this readathon, I never thought I’ll be able to finish all the required challenges during June. Not only did I do that, I had a whole lot of fun and have probably read most of my favorite books of this year just in this month. You can read about my original TBR here and my Phase One and Two updates here and here.
Thank you so much Jamieson @ Jamishelves, for creating these wonderful challenges and giving me an opportunity to read some awesome diverse books. Also thanks a lot to Nandini @ Unputdownable Books for being my biggest cheerleader throughout and I really believe I’ve made a friend for life. Make sure to checkout her blog for more details about the Indian Lit Readathon she is co-organizing in the month of July. Now, let’s get onto my final updates for the final phase of Marvel-A-Thon.
Read a book about a rivalry or enemies.
Through the course of the month, there are very few instances where I actually stuck to my original TBR but thank god, this was one of them. Captive Prince captivated me right from the first page despite the horrible nature of the world. The characters are fascinating and and the writing keep me hooked all the way. It’s definitely an addictive series if you can get through this book. Checkout my review here.
Read a book that involves medicine in some way.
I had initially planned to read Needing Him by Kennedy Fox but decided to skip this prompt because I wasn’t feeling it.
GOTG: Volume 2
Read a book set in or involving space.
Sci-fi is not my genre and I knew even before I began that I was setting myself up for failure. That’s why I decided to go with this graphic novel, so that I wouldn’t waste a lot of time. Even though the art and concept was quite imaginative but I still felt very confused. Despite being a Romeo-Julietesque story set during an inter-galactic war, I just couldn’t like the characters. Won’t be continuing the series either.
Read a YA book involving secrets in some way.
Another book that delighted me in a very unexpected way. It’s predictable, hilarious and very entertaining, features an adorable sapphic romance, while also dealing with lots of underlying themes about perception vs reality, right and wrong and heroes vs villains. The representation is also very on point and I can’t wait to read Not your Villain. You can read my review here.
Read a popular book.
WOW did this book blow my mind!!!! I’m in love with this trilogy and I had to reread the book immediately because I had to really formulate my thoughts for the review. The character development is phenomenal and it has some of the most amazing interactions between Damon and Laurent. Can’t get enough of them. You should click here if you wanna see me gushing a lot about the book.
Read a book that fulfills multiple challenges.
Such a beautiful love story. All I can say is that I cried a lot while reading. These characters are sweet and thoughtful and so caring but still have to face challenges, and it just broke my heart. You should definitely read this book and I wouldn’t mind if you checked out my review spoilery here either.
Read an ownvoices book with a black main character.
Tiffany is a great protagonist and I loved the way she handled the various curveballs life threw at her and still came out on top. There are also a lot of underlying themes about grief, importance of family and forgiveness, and how religion can mean different things for different people. But this book also made me very angry and Tif is so much more generous than me and I don’t think I would be so easily inclined to forgive. You all should definitely give this book a try.
Read a book with a female MC.
One more book that’s surely going onto my all-time favorites list. The characters are so realistic and made me very nostalgic. And the friendships in this book are the best and most beautiful ever. Everyone deserves a platonic soulmate. My review here just goes on and on, so read it only if have some time to spare.
The Avengers 4
Read a book you don’t know anything about.
I really wasn’t interested in reading anything for this challenge and it seemed like a great idea to utilize my last skip option.
And I’m finished. I feel so accomplished. I know it might sound silly to many people, but I believe all of you fellow bloggers can definitely understand me when I say, I feel so happy for not letting myself fall into a slump, reading some amazing diverse books and just having fun while reading.
