Top Five Tuesday is a fun meme created by Bionic Book Worm to share our love for lists every week.
I really had to think hard for this topic because I mostly read fantasy or romance and it’s not very often that I encounter books in these genres that make me laugh out loud. I’m also mostly a crier and tend to gravitate towards more emotional reads. But, below are some of my favorite books that are absolutely hilarious and entertaining.
Born a Crime by Tervor Noah
This was my first audiobook ever and I have to say that it was one of the best ideas I ever had. Trevor is an excellent narrator, which we already know from watching the Daily Show… but listening to him narrate his own story, with his signature self deprecating humor and his excellent talent for various languages is an experience that shouldn’t be missed. I laughed out loud so many times in public, probably even teared up, but it was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend the audiobook.
My So-Called Bollywood Life by Nisha Sharma
This whole book was a delight. The various references to Hindi movies, Winnie’s hilarious reviews, translations of Hindi movie songs 🤣🤣🤣 , her dream sequences with SRK… this book is just so funny and made me so very happy. You can also checkout my review here.
Deal Maker by Lily Morton
This series is full of wit and humor but this book was definitely special. Jude’s antics to make Asa think he is not so smart are laugh out loud funny and his special notes at the beginning of every chapter to Asa’s fans will make you cry with laughter. And you should definitely read the book to find out what Jude has to say about some of our favorite childhood books. This is a thoroughly entertaining series and you can find my review for the book here.
Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
This is a wonderful story of friendship and love but the double dates that Josh and Hazel end up in will make you giggle a lot and just wonder when the two oblivious people will realise their true feelings. I was so excited when I was approved for the ARC and so glad that it didn’t disappoint. Click here if you wanna checkout my review.
The Lightning-Struck Heart by TJ Klune
I am frankly not sure how I can describe this book but it was very very funny and entertaining. Not my usual style and also full of innuendo, but I really enjoyed it because of the amazing characters and relationships. You should definitely give this book a try if you want a different kind of fantasy novel and you can find more about my thoughts on the book here.
