The Fellowship of the Ring Book Tag

I’ve been in a terrible readng and blogging slump for the past two weeks and I apologize for disappearing from most platforms and not interacting with anyone. So, first of all, thank you so much to my dearest friend Nandini @ Unputdownable Books for tagging me on this and motivating me to come out of hibernation. Gandalf – A book that taught you something

If you are a liberal news follower, then you obviously know who Rachel Maddow is. This book of hers taught me a lot about the United States military industrial complex and the way different Presidents of both parties have tried to increase their executive powers. The book is written with her usual wit and charm while also being very informative and well researched.

Frodo – A book that left a mark on you

A very recent book that has left an indelible mark on me has to be The Charm of Finches. It’s beautiful and devastating and hopeful all at once and I’m going to reread and remember this book for a long time to come.

Legolas – A book you finished in one sitting

I have a lot of free time, so I usually end up reading books in one sitting. But if I think back to my college days, I read Five Point Someone in a single sitting because I found it thoroughly entertaining and also coz I had to return the book next day 😉😉😉

Gimli – A book that features an unlikely friendship

What can be more unlikely than a deep and meaningful friendship between our female protagonist and a key…. yes, I do mean an actual key. Foundryside is RJB’s latest and I’m in love with his writing.

Merry – A book that pleasantly surprised you

I haven’t read a lot of romantic suspense in a long time, so the Agents Irish and Whiskey trilogy was a pleasant surprise and I really had a lot of fun.

Pippin – A book that made you laugh

I don’t listen to Dan Savage’s podcasts and only know him through some interviews of his. But this story of his journey of adopting a baby is laugh out loud funny and also very emotional and poignant at the same time. He is his usual offensive, politically incorrect and sarcastic self and I definitely recommend listening to the audiobook.

Boromir – A book/series that you think ended too soon

I absolutely adore the Remnant Chronicles and I totally understand the ending of the trilogy. But I really would have loved getting to know more about the life of Lia after she becomes Queen and how she manages to make it work with her beloved.

Sam – A book with memorable side characters who stole the show

Hands down the Grisha trilogy. This is a series where there are too many wonderful side characters and you just wish everyone gets their own book. Nikolai, Genya, Zoya, Tamar, Tolya are just a few and it would be wonderful to read about them in Bardugo’s next series.

Aragorn – A good book with a bad/average cover

Captive Prince trilogy is one of my top favorites of this year but I am so disappointed that it’s covers are really not so appealing. I would have loved if they were more representative of Damon and Laurent.

Gollum – A book that had great potential but disappointed you in the end

I keep repeating Furyborn for this question everywhere but what can I say. I had such great expectations for this book and the prologue was marvellous and it just went downhill from there.
