Hello to all my dear book lovers !!!!!! Still no book review posts from me, because I have yet to pick up a book. This slump is killing me. So, I have decided to follow one idea that many bloggers have suggested to get out of reading slumps… participate in a readathon. Let me try this one and hopefully, I will have a good time reading books again.
For those who don’t know, the Contemporary-A-Thon is a readathon where you read only contemporary books for a week. The readathon is hosted by Chelsea, Julie and Natasha from Booktube and has 7 challenges to fulfill. The readathon is going to be from September 17-23rd. 7 books might be too ambitious for me, so I’m going to stack up on the challenges, so that I can finish them while reading fewer books.
Let’s take a look at the challenges and the books I plan to read. Obviously, I’m a mood reader, so I might end up reading something totally different.
CHALLENGE 1: READ A BOOK WITH ORANGE ON THE COVER
CHALLENGE 7: READ A PREDICTED 5-STAR READ
I’ve become a huge fan of Alice Oseman’s writing after reading Radio Silence and Heartstopper, so I hope this book will also be a 5-star read for me. And that cover is really bright and beautiful.
CHALLENGE 2: READ A DARK/SPOOKY CONTEMPORARY
CHALLENGE 5: READ A CONTEMPORARY THAT HAS YOUR INITIALS SOMEWHERE ON THE COVER
CHALLENGE 6: READ A NEW-TO-YOU AUTHOR
I never read spooky stuff, so I am going to settle for this book which seems full of political intrigue, conspiracies and espionage. I’ve also never read any books by Tal Bauer before and I hope I will enjoy this one. And I promise, you will find both my initials S and K somewhere on that cover 😉
CHALLENGE 3: READ A DIVERSE CONTEMPORARY
CHALLENGE 4: READ A CONTEMPORARY IN A NON-TRADITIONAL FORMAT
The obvious choice for a book in a non-traditional format is a graphic novel. And after enjoying the first two issues of Fence, I can’t wait to dive back into the world of fencing in Issue 3.
If you guys have better recommendations, please feel free to share your thoughts. And if any of you want to participate in the readathon, do share your TBRs.
