The ABC Book Challenge | “S”

And now comes my favorite letter “S”. Any guesses why…??? Obviously because my name starts with the same letter too. I have a lot of wonderful books to talk about that begin with this letter. So, let’s get started.

Memorable Books Starting With “S”

Simon Vs is one of the cutest coming of age/love stories I have read in YA and every lover of this genre should read this book.

I don’t think I ever read a cozy mystery before The Secret, Book and Scone Society but it’s a cool book with an interesting mystery, a wonderful setting, an eclectic group of women and the most amazing fictional bookstore.

The Start of Me and You is another very nerdy and cute YA love story and I can’t wait for it’s sequel.

I would have never read Stalking Jack the Ripper if not for my bookclub and I never thought I would enjoy it so much. It is sometimes too macabre for my taste but has a wonderful love story at it’s core.

The book that I never thought I needed – A Spark of White Fire is the sci-fi YA retelling of Mahabharata and I have never felt more happy and joyous and nostalgic while reading a book. An absolutely remarkable blend of sci-fi and fantasy.

There is not enough praise I can heap on Six of Crows. It’s just brilliant.

Seven Ancient Wonders – the book that started my love for Matthew Reilly. This book and the series is a treat for any action-adventure book lover.

If you ever want to try a different and simple version of the epic Ramayana, try Samhita Arni’s Sita’s Ramayana. It’s from the POV of Sita and is told in a graphic novel format, but is absolutely marvellous and gives us a very unique female perspective of the story.

The spellbinding end to the triple Hugo Award winning trilogy, The Stone Sky gives much needed answers to all the questions we had since the beginning of the series and ends with a powerful confrontation between mother and daughter.

Pure, tender and unconditional love – that’s what we get in The Song of Achilles. And lots and lots of tears !!!

A perfect summer read, The Summer of Jordi Perez is a warm and fuzzy sapphic romance and makes for a delightful read during the season.

Books Starting With “S” On My TBR

Matthew Reilly is writing a YA novel, so I have to read it. The Secret Runners of New York might not be my usual kind of genre but I can’t not read a book by my favorite author.

A Scarcity of Condors, the finale of the absolutely beautiful masterpiece that is the Venery series, is hopefully releasing at the end of this year and I can’t wait.

Small Town Hearts seems like a perfect sapphic summer romance for 2019 and I hope it lives up to all my expectations.

I don’t know why I am still not reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo because it’s been languishing on my shelf for too long. However, the hype for this book never dies down and maybe I’m just scared that it might disappoint me.

I have the ARC for Spin the Dawn and though it’s not something I would have otherwise picked up, the gorgeous cover just impressed me too much.

Have you read any of these books? Do you plan to read some of them? Please share your thoughts and recommendations in the comments below…

  1. I’ve read Simon vs., Stalking Jack the Ripper and Six of Crows. I absolutely love the first 2. It’s been so long since I’ve read Six of Crows that I don’t remember what I think of it. I will hopefully be rereading that one this month. The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo is on my TBR.
