Top Five Tuesday is a fun meme created by Bionic Book Worm to share our love for lists every week.
I’m not someone who reads a lot of suspense or thriller novels. I much rather like the books which have some mystery solving aspect as part of a complete action/adventure story or just straight up murder mysteries. So, let me talk about some of my favorite kind of mystery books.
Well, any list about mysteries is incomplete without Sherlock Holmes in it. He is my ultimate favorite detective and every mystery that he solves is unique and enchanting in it’s own way. All of his stories, especially The Hound of the Baskervilles will always remain a top favorite of mine.
As a newly minted fan of the romantic suspense genre, I would be remiss not to include the Death and the Devil series. This is full of twists and turns and numerous cliffhangers, and I could never guess what was gonna happen next. Add to all of this a dash of forbidden romance, and this is a complete package.
If you love your adventure novels with mystery and also happens to be set in a fantasy world, then The Invisible Library Series is just perfect. There is an overarching plot throughout involving Fae and Dragons and humans, but every book also has it’s own mystery to solve in a very different world each time, and it’s a complete delight to read.
I’ve only read Stalking Jack the Ripper in this series, but it was definitely a very well written mystery. The author brings a very morbid and macabre atmosphere to life in the pages which only enhances the mystery aspect of the book. Combined with some amazing banter, this is an excellent debut and I hope I’ll continue the series soon.
And I can’t end this post without listing my favorite cozy mysteries. The Secret, Book and Scone Society and The Whispered Word both have murders to solve, but the town of Miracle Springs is a setting I would love to get lost in and I would absolutely give anything to visit the Miracle Books store in the novel. Peppered with a love for books and a lot of recommendations to read, this series is about a wonderful group of women (friendship goals) trying to solve mysteries.
Have you read any of these books? What are some of your favorite mystery novels? Please feel free to share in the comments below…

I actually read it because some other school had it in their curriculum and I didn’t 😂😂😂 I fell in love with Sherlock quite early… but it’s still not my go to genre…
If you are not very fond of mystery novels, you should checkout the Ellery Adams books I mentioned or The Invisible library series..they have so much more going for them than the mystery element 😊😊
