I’m back with another post to celebrate the Indian Lit readathon which starts in less than 48 hours from now, and I can’t contain my excitement. To promote this lovely occasion, my dear friends have created this tag whose prompts are based on some delicious Indian sweets and I can’t wait to answer them all. I’m also trying to mention only books by Indian authors, or atleast Asian so that I can promote more of Indian literature, which I myself am not very knowledgeable about.
Rules
- Link back to either one of the original creator’s post (Nandini | Charvi | Shruti)
- Include the graphic above in your post
- Tag a few of your friends and have fun!
HOLIGE: AN UNDERRATED BOOK YOU LIKE TO RECOMMEND
Definitely A Spark of White Fire. It’s such a brillaint genre bending novel, that I’m appalled at how few ratings it has on Goodreads. I will never stop gushing about it and hopefully I’ll finish sequel during this readathon and then talk about it too.
JALEBI: A BOOK THAT SURPASSES YOUR EXPECTATIONS
I never read middle grade novels and I previously hadn’t enjoyed Roshani’s writing style much, but Aru Shah and the End of Time blew all my expectations away and I had such fun reading it.
RASGULLA: YOUR BOOKISH OTP
I really can’t think beyond Dimple and Rishi. They are a delight together and I loved reading their romance.
GULAB JAMUN: A BOOK THAT EVERYONE WOULD ENJOY
I actually haven’t read this book yet (only because I can’t find it in US), but my dear friends swear that it’s awesome and very enjoyable with lots of mysteries, so I think it’s something everyone would have fun reading.
KALAKAND: A BOOK YOU DEVOURED IN A SINGLE SITTING
Nisha’s debut My So-Called Bollywood Life for sure. Devoured is exactly the right word for describing how I read this book.
PETHA: A RARE BOOK YOU OWN
It’s not exactly rare but I did have to search a while to find the brilliantly written and translated Aavarana.
SOAN PAPDI: A BOOK YOU WISH HAD A SEQUEL
It’s not exactly a sequel, but I definitely wish there would be another book similar to A Thousand Beginnings and Endings, retelling more myths and legends of Asia.
KAJU KATLI: A BOOK YOU THINK IS WORTH THE HYPE
The Palace of Illusions is very critically acclaimed and I totally believe that it’s worth all the accolades and the hype.

Sahi, what is the name of the first dessert in the image (on the lefthand side) at the top of this post? I went to an Indian restaurant for lunch this week and had a dessert that looked just like it. It was tasty but it was from a buffet so I don’t remember what it was called.

This is such a great tag and all of the books sound amazing too! I have been meaning to read The Palace of Illusions and The Spark of White Fire for a while but now that I see it again and the sequel for The Spark of White Fire is coming out/is out, I need to get on that one at least.
