Pre-Netflix GrishaVerse Tag

I love everything Grishaverse and I’m among the legions of fans who are super excited about the Netflix show. So, when I saw this tag on Kaitlin’s blog, I just couldn’t resist. After you see all my exciting answers, you should checkout her blog for more amazing bookish content.

Note: some of the prompts can contain spoilers for books in the GrishaVerse.

Nina Better Be Plus-Sized: a books with fantastic fat rep

img_1367

There’s Something about Sweetie is really special because it has desi fat rep that is done excellently, and made me very happy as well as emotional. Sweetie is the person I wish I could be coz she is so confident in her own body and exudes optimism.

Malina Are Not My OTP: a book where you couldn’t get behind the romance

img_1065

This is probably going to be a pretty unpopular opinion but the one very fan favorite couple I can’t get behind is Jude and Cardan from The Wicked King. I just find it pretty toxic and I’m not sure what the author can do in the last book to convince me otherwise.

“The Darkling Isn’t Dead”: a book where you connected with the villain

img_0629

Well, no one can beat the Darkling. But a recent one I kinda found interesting and am very excited to see what happens next with him is Hakaimono from Soul of the Sword.

Don’t You Dare White Wash: a book-to-movie/TV show adaptation where the character’s ethinicity was respected

Even though the fat rep wasn’t on point, I think the ethnicity of most characters was pretty consistent with the book in Love, Simon.

The King of Scars: a book by a beloved author that you’re excited about

img_0442

I’ve loved all the books I’ve read by Bennett but Foundryside is a particular favorite. And I’m too excited for Shorefall but the wait till 2020 is excrutiating.

Inej and Kaz: fancast your faves

I’m pretty unfamiliar with actors or models who aren’t from India, so I don’t think I can fancast for any of these beloved characters properly.

No Mourners, No Funerals: a book quote that has stuck with you

img_0444

There are many excellent quotes that I loved in The Shadow Glass, but one that struck me as quite relevant to all of us is –

You can’t honor the past if you don’t know what the past is. I would much rather know the truth than live in ignorant bliss, even if it destroys all I’ve come to believe. Tradition isn’t always honorable.

  1. Ohhhhhh, this tag is everything!!!!!!! I haven’t actually read the books you chose apart from Wicked King – and I can’t really say I’m onboard with your opinion (definitely no judgement!), but I understand! I’ve also had my difficulties with Cardan and Jude because he’s so cruel to her, throughout the whole series and I never know his intentions. I just wish he’ll be better in Queen of Nothing and honestly, I have zero idea how this series will end. He’s so unpredictable (one aspect coming close to having the same opinion as you – his intentions really bug me!!)
Anyways, super cute tag, I might do it some time as well!

    1. Haha I totally understand… I mean Jude and Cardan make for a compelling couple to read about but I’m a very lovey dovey mushy kinda person, so they are not my usual type 😜😜😜 And yup, his intentions are always suspect, but I guess that’s one of the main reasons I’m still reading the trilogy 😊😊

      1. I totally know what you mean, I’m like that as well (just a little tho lol)! And yess, same. I mean it’s freaking me out not to know his true intentions, but that makes the book exciting! So it’s kind of a love hate relationship lol 😂😂😂
