The #IronTomeAThon : Wrap Up

When I started this readathon (hosted by Aimal), I was mostly just trying to challenge myself to read atleast a bit of Adult Fantasy because while I love the fantasy genre a lot, I’ve always been a huge fan of the YA side of it.  And though I made a huge TBR post (here), I obviously didn’t stick to it nor complete all the challenges. I also read a lot of Indian mythology based fantasies because they are my comfort zone and I just couldn’t make myself read more of the popular books like the group challenge The Poppy War. But I still feel like I’ve accomplished something and would love to share all the deets here. And I have to mention that all my points count towards HOUSE STARK.

KING’S LANDING : Book involving politics, royalty or government

SUNSPEAR : Book by an author of color

A very well written and fascinating exploration of the character of Raavan.

Pages: 400

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

WINTERFELL : Book set in a cold environment

Mindblowing reinterpretation of the Mahabharata.

Pages: 458

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

OLDTOWN : Book involving an institution of training

ASSHAI : Urban Fantasy book

A thrilling and expansive magical gangster/mafia saga that gave me some wonderful characters to root for.

Pages: 512

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

Other Adult Fantasies I read

Very imaginative and most impressive interpretations of the familiar characters from the epic.

Pages: 472

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Not as impressive as the first two, but a worthy conclusion to an ambitious undertaking.

Pages: 436

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐.5

Gods of jade and shadow

Beautiful amalgamation of Jazz Age Mexico and Mayan mythology with a fierce and defiant protagonist.

Pages: 338

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐.5

Mistborn trilogy

I’ve finally started this ambitious trilogy but only managed to read about 22% of The Final Empire, but I’m going to count those pages for the readathon. I don’t know if I’ll really be able to finish it though. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞

I also participated in the twitter chat, so I automatically get 300 points.

    1. Thank you Sim…!!! Indian mytho retellings are definitely easier to read 😂😂😂 Otherwise I only managed 2 adult fantasies which is so far away from my TBR… but yes, I’m glad I read Jade City because we all can discuss it 😃😃😃 I want to read Jade War but maybe I’ll wait for a couple of weeks… need to read some happy romances in between 😂😂😂
