Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish that now has a new home at That Artsy Reader Girl.
This is not the topic for today but I really wanted to make a list of some of the backlist books I really want to finish by the end of this year, and hopefully keep them on my mind every time I start a new one. I’m also typing up this post a couple of weeks in advance and the hope is that I would have read atleast a couple of these books by the time you are reading it.
The Lies of Locke Lamora is probably the oldest book on my TBR ( I have cleaned it up a lot recently) and I think it’s time I read it already. But I’m also very skeptical about adult fantasy in general, so I’m very scared to start this book. Hopefully it’ll turn out to be a lot of fun.
I’ve only read Bennett’s fantasies till date, so I’m very interested to see how he fares in a near futuristic dystopian setting. And it’s a fairly short one, so I hope I’ll read it soon.
One of my most anticipated reads of the year, The Tiger at Midnight is my kind of book and I absolutely have no reason to not have read it yet.
I’ve been a bit unsure about Empire of Sand because I’ve heard the pacing is a bit slow but all of my friends have loved it and I should try and finish it before the release of Realm of Ash.
Forward Me Back to You was on my tentative yearly TBR for 2019 and I really want to read Mitali’s writing because she is so acclaimed and I don’t wanna miss out.
The Rage of Dragons has been quite a rage this year and I definitely wanna see what’s all the fuss about. And it’s always fun to discover new POC authors.
I don’t know why I haven’t read Small Town Hearts yet but I really want to. And that gorgeous cover definitely deserves to be read and cherished.
I read about 20% of The Final Empire and then had to return the book to the library (and unsurprisingly, there’s a huge waitlist). It turned out to be pretty interesting, so I hope I will get back to it before the year ends.
I dicovered this book because it was present on a “best” list put out by GR and I found the premise to be interesting. And it’s probably time I try atleast some sort of sci-fi book.
I recently read The Poppy War and was completely blown away, and though I want to badly read The Dragon Republic, I’m just taking a small break. But I definitely want to read it by the end of this year.
Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Which ones do you think I should read first? Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below…
This is such a great list Sahi! Empire of Sand was a really solid Mughal inspired fantasy, I’d highly recommend. I also need to read Tiger at Midnight because it sounds right up my alley and Small Town Hearts because that sounds relatable.

A lot of these are on my own list to read by the end of the year! I fully meant to read Memory Called Empire 6 months ago but other things got in the way. Dragon Republic is going to be either my next read or my next next read! Hope you are able to get to Mistborn soon, it’s one of my favorites! Lies of Locke Lamora was really good too.

Great list! I finally read The Lies of Locke Lamora earlier this year and it was so much fun – I hope you enjoy it. 😀 The Final Empire, The Poppy War and Empire of Sand are all on my TBR, and I’d really like to try Vigilance and The Rage of Dragons, too!
