I saw this tag done by the lovely Lauren @ Narrative Paradise and thought it would make a perfect addition to my blog today, in lieu of the release yesterday. I haven’t read the book yet because I’m waiting for my library copy, but I’ve only heard good things about it and am very excited to get to it soon. And now let’s get to this super fun tag…
- Credit the creator of the tag, Mieke @ The Little Mouse That Reads
- Shout out the person who tagged you
- List the rules of the tag in your post.
- Tag at least 5 people to do the tag!
Juliette Cai – favourite fierce, bloodthirsty heroine
I don’t know a more fierce and bloodthirsty heroine than Fang Runin in the recent times, and she really is so unique and memorable. She makes so many bad choices but we are still compelled to root her, and I feel that’s the genuis of author R. F. Kuang.
Roma Montagov – favourite soft boi
Malik is a total soft boi, very sweet and compassionate who just wants to survive and help his sisters.
The Scarlet Gang – a popular book you just couldn’t get into
All my blogger friends love this book but I just couldn’t get into it, and DNFd at about 15%. Maybe I will give it a try again after the sequel releases.
The White Flowers – your favorite underrated read
Until everyone I know has read this wonderful series, this would always be my most favorite underrated read. It’s such an amazing story and I want it to get so much more love across the board.
Shanghai – favourite book set somewhere far away from where you are
This series takes place in an alternate history Cairo, and its such a magical place that I want to go visit it right this moment. Probably one of the most memorable fantasy worlds I’ve read this year.
Monstrous – book featuring a monster/monstrous character
The Monstress series is full of rich and vivid world building, exquisite artwork and some truly terrifying monsters. Definitely recommend for any dark fantasy fans out there.
The Madness – a book that you would choose to keep you company during quarantine
Mo Dau Zhu Shi (or) The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation is the book and it’s overarching fandom on AO3 that has really kept me sane and going in this pandemic. I really didn’t think one book/world could obsess me so much, but this one seems to be it. I still can’t get it out of my head after months, and read a new fanfic every chance I get.
Kathleen – your favorite book featuring political intrigue
This book is genuinely full of amazing political intrigue, and lots of discussions about the morality of power, navigating different groups vying for political power, and ultimately trying to do good for the common people.
Benedikt and Marshall – a ship you wish would get together *just kiss*
The Untamed outwardly depicts the relationship between Lan Zhan and Wei Ying as a kind of bromance/platonic soulmates, but the subtext is full of delicious UST and love and as someone watching the show, you just keep wanting them to kiss. The book obviously gives us the chance to enjoy their extremely slow burn love story, but I wish we could have had the opportunity to enjoy the same on a visual medium as well.
Dorogaya – a book that makes you weak in the knees
Girl Gone Viral tackles many important mental health issues and can get intense at times, but the romance is so swoon worthy that it made me weak in the knees. Can’t wait to read the final book in the series.
Ripped Out Throat – a cliffhanger that made you want to rip out your own throat
The ending of The Silvered Serpents completely shocked me, and even though the rest of the book didn’t wow me, I’m quite excited for the finale because of all the explosive revelations that happened towards the end.
