The Anti-TBR Book Tag

It’s been such a long time since I’ve done a tag but what can I say, I don’t find a lot of time to write posts these days. And also my memory has gone to the toss, and I can never think of what books to talk about in the many wonderful tag posts I see everyday. But I found this lovely one on Steph’s blog @ A Little But a Lot and knew I wanted to do it. So, let’s get started.

1. A POPULAR BOOK EVERYONE LOVES THAT YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING?

This book is quite popular and highly acclaimed, and definitely a favorite among my blogging friends, but I’ve read enough reviews to know that it has many elements that’ll make me very anxious and I can appreciate the nominations and awards it wins without ever reading it.

2. A CLASSIC BOOK (OR AUTHOR) YOU DON’T HAVE AN INTEREST IN READING?

I will be very honest, I’m not much of a fan of classics and whatever I read in my childhood, I think that’s enough for my read pile. Jane Austen is still the only classic author I love and I still enjoy her retellings but have no intention of reading any other classics anymore.

3. A PROBLEMATIC AUTHOR WHOSE BOOKS YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING?

These days, the obvious answer is J.K. Rowling. And I have no intention of reading any of her future works. I have lots of good memories with Harry Potter which I still cherish but that doesn’t mean I have to continue supporting her in anyway. There are I’m sure many other problematic authors and while I don’t maintain a list, I can always find someone on booktwt to let me know the deets whenever I encounter such issues.

4. AN AUTHOR YOU HAVE READ A COUPLE OF BOOKS FROM & HAVE DECIDED THEIR BOOKS ARE NOT FOR YOU?

Probably Victoria Schwab. I’ve read two duologies of hers and while they were good, I always had some nagging issues with them. So, I don’t know if I wanna read anything more by her.

5. A GENRE YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN OR A GENRE YOU TRIED TO GET INTO & COULDN’T?

Literary Fiction. I may have read a few before but this is one genre I don’t feel like picking up at all despite any number of awards the books might win. I’ve even read a couple of horror books these past few months which in itself is very surprising, but I’m still not there with LitFic yet.

6. A BOOK YOU HAVE BOUGHT BUT WILL NEVER READ? (THIS CAN BE A BOOK YOU HAVE UNHAULED/RETURNED TO THE LIBRARY UNREAD)

OMG there are so many…!!!!!! I buy books on sale all the time because I am too impulsive, but end up not wanting to read them at all. A few of them would be A Curse of Dark and Lonely, Priest of Bones, maybe even Senlin Ascends and The Lies of Locke Lamora.

7. A SERIES YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING OR A SERIES YOU STARTED & HAVE DNF’D?

I have started and abandoned the first books in both the Mistborn and the Stormlight Archive series, not that they were bad, just that I lost interest some way into them. And I have no idea if I will pick them up soon.

8. A NEW RELEASE YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING?

Lost in the Never Woods, A Trial of Sorcerers and The Stolen Kingdom are some books I’ve seen discussed quite a bit recently but I don’t feel much interested in them.

And that’s it..!!! This was fun and I hope you enjoyed reading it. And maybe some of you would want to try it out as well. In that case, don’t forget to link back to me so I can checkout all your fun answers 🙂

  1. Oh I love this! So often if a book is really hyped up, that will put me off reading it on principle, so I love a whole tag dedicated to that. Loved your answers as well – although I have read Priest of Bones and really enjoyed it!

    1. Thank you !!!! And nice to know you enjoyed Priest of Bones… I’ve just read it’s very grimdark which seems to put me off a bit. But never say never I guess 😊😊

        1. I’ve not really delved into the genre yet. Dark is all I can handle, that too when I’m well prepared for it… grimdark makes me even more anxious 😊😊
