The A-Z Book Tag V2.0

I just realized that I did this tag for the first time on my blog exactly 4 years ago to the day (you can check it out here). So, it is exciting to do it again with more newer and amazing books to talk about and I can’t wait. I actually got the idea to do it again when I saw Heather @ The Frozen Library post it on her blog and I was waiting for the right time to post it myself. Do checkout her blog for more fun posts. It was created by Jamie @ The Perpetual Page-Turner and looks really fun, so let’s go!

Author you’ve read the most books from:

My older answer was Steve Berry or James Rollins but I hadn’t counted the books last time. But now I did, and it’s definitely Steve Berry with 27 books and I’m sure I will keep reading all his future ones too because he has entertained me a lot with his thrillers for more than a decade.

Best Sequel Ever:

I had such a hard time choosing this one because I could choose many sequels which were more brilliant than their amazing first books, but I think The Dragon Republic is one of the top ones. It tested the resolve of so many of the characters and the battle sequences were so amazing that I can still picture them in my head.

Currently Reading:

I haven’t started anything new after I finished my last one but I did read a bit of A Bond Undone more than a week ago and I need to continue it soon.

Drink of Choice While Reading:

These days it’s just been water because my mom is all about me being healthy, but I would definitely prefer a coffee.

E-reader or Physical Book?

This is always gonna be E-reader but ask me after a couple of years and I might say audiobooks.

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:

As my memory for details is not that great, I have to choose someone from a book I read very recently. And I think it will be Yu Tu from You Are My Glory (Ni Shi Wo De Rong Yao) because he is a perfect mix of intelligent and romantic and I love him. Ofcourse, being portrayed by Yang Yang in the drama is a bonus.

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:

I’ve somehow read much less Nonfiction books this year, but I guess that’s to be expected when all I wanna do is escape the real world. But Never Say You Can’t Survive was a gem of a book which I really loved despite not being an author myself because it was so much more than just about writing and craft, it was also about surviving hard times through stories and I think we all need a bit of that.

Hidden Gem Book:

I read The Councillor because my favorite author Tasha Suri was gushing about it. So, despite never having heard about it before, I decided to give it a try. And it was spectacular. A very well written political fantasy with unforgettable characters and I wish many more people would read it so that it can have more than the roughly 200 reviews it has on Goodreads currently.

Important Moment in your Reading Life:

I think it has to be the day I decided to start blogging because it changed my relationship with books and reading, helped me make many many bookish friends for life, and also changed me as a person for the better.

Just Finished:

I actually just finished a reread of Qi Ye (Lord Seventh) because I’ve been feeling a bit slumpy and didn’t wanna read anything new and not appreciate it properly.

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:

Horror is something I will never pick up voluntarily unless it’s something extremely highly anticipated like Ring Shout was. I also don’t like grimdark much but I also can’t always define the subgenre properly. And since the start of the pandemic, I have been feeling very disinterested in contemporaries as well.

Longest Book You’ve Read:

Goodreads says Mo Dao Zu Shi or Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation is more than 1000 pages, so that has to be it. However, it’s gonna be published in multiple volumes starting next month, so this one is valid only for now.

Major book hangover because of:

She Who Became the Sun gave me massive book hangover and even after all these months, I can’t get over it.

Number of Bookcases You Own:

I have one big book case which I love but it’s currently full so I can hardly buy anything. There’s another small one but it mostly has my notebooks and lots of other non-bookish and electronics stuff.

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:

I have definitely lost count of how many times I’ve reread Heated Rivalry. It’s one of my favorite romances and I’m so so excited for it’s sequel next year, which means soon it will be time for another reread.

Preferred Place To Read:

My couch. It will always remain my favorite. Nowadays, I also enjoy listening to audiobooks while walking.

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book:

“She could never be alone in a realm of shelves, where characters from ancient stories might speak to her in smooth metaphors and pleasantly gnarled phrases, and places she had never seen might spring into life, painted in the full range of hues that her imagination supplied, offering a pale green forest, a mountain daubed with gray limestone, or an ocean splintered by the dying sun.”

— The Councillor by E. J. Beaton

Reading Regret:

This is something I’ve only realized recently and it’s that I don’t read much translated fiction, especially coming from India. I probably am not looking in the right places for recommendations but I know I should put more effort into it.

Series You Started And Need To Finish (all the books are out):

I have quite a few where I bought some or all of the books of a series but never started them. But if I am talking about what I started but never got a chance to continue, it has to be Craft Sequence. I absolutely loved Three Parts Dead, so I know I will enjoy the rest of the series too; I just find myself lost in shiny new releases and tend to neglect my backlist. Hopefully soon.

Three of your All-Time Favorite Books:

I wanna choose series instead of books, and I know I have a lot more all time favorites but let me choose these – The Tensorate, The Celestial Trilogy and Murderbot Diaries.

Unapologetic Fangirl For:

I’ve tried not to repeat answers here but I can’t help it…. MDZS and The Untamed. I love this story in all it’s adaptations.

Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:

Undoubtedly Kaikeyi. It’s my top most anticipated release of 2022.

Worst Bookish Habit:

I have a couple. One is obviously the most common one – I impulse buy ebooks and then hardly read any of them. The other one I feel is that I read too fast and many times, don’t savor the story properly.

X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:

I am currently in India and my bookshelf is in the US, so I had to count on my Kindle library and arrived at this one. I’m quite excited for this debut and I think it will appeal to my love of museums which I have terribly missed during this pandemic.

Your latest book purchase:

I haven’t read any Adrian Tchaikovsky books and this one isn’t even one of those which is talked about among his works, but I saw it on sale and couldn’t resist.

ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):

Most recently, I stayed up way way late to read Golden Stage because I was completely in love with the couple and their romance, and couldn’t wait the whole night to read more about them.

And that’s it for this very long post.!!!! But I had so much fun going through my shelves and figuring out the answers. Did you enjoy my post? Have you read any of these books as well? If you wanna do this tag, please feel free and do link back to me so that I can see all your wonderful answers 🙂

    1. Hope we both will finish reading Craft Sequence some day 😂😂😂

I actually started watching a lot of cdramas this year and heard quite a bit about how famous Legend of the Condor Heroes is. Though I did watch everything else first before picking up the books, for this series I decided I want to read it first. And had to go looking for the English translations… I was so glad when I found out that they are being published 😍😍😍
